With the design finalised, costed and budgets checked the client gave the go ahead for the build. It was scheduled for mid December and was to be carried out by Paul Dracott Garden Designs partner company The Living Room.

Experienced garden builder Paul Marshall owns The Living Room and I have been building gardens with Paul for over twelve years. The Living Room work to exacting standards and understand how I put together a garden design.

Work started on the 5th of December with a total clearance of the worn out lawn and existing small terrace. The levels within the garden were then set, this had to be carried out accurately as the raised terrace had been designed so that it used an old concrete pad as its base so saving the client on the cost of removal of this thick piece of reinforced concrete.

The client’s reclaimed Cambridge white bricks from the internal removal of a chimney breast were used for the stepping stones through the gravel and the terraces were laid with sandstone.

To prevent contamination of the gravel and finished surfaces the planting was carried out before the completion of the hardlanscape.
