Set in about 2 ½ acres of flat paddock with a an ancient natural ground water pond, this large contemporary single storey house in a village outside Cambridge sat uncomfortably in its rural location.

In order to link the house with the greater garden 'large ‘L’ shaped and zig zag canals were formed and lined with round headed evergreen oaks. This division separated a smaller formal garden around the rear of the house form the larger area of the garden. The latter planted with coppices of mature trees.

The smaller formal garden area then had a pool and rill system located centally to the glass atrium. A foaming jet water spout created a distraction from the sound of the distant M11.

Planting included foundation planting to the building, a box parterre and yew hedges.

The project also included a tennis court, resin bound driveway and computer controlled irrigation from a borehole.
